Yes, there are giraffes, lions, bears, zebras and prairie dogs..but not all of the creatures that live at Zoo New England live behind bars, walls or other enclosures! At this special weeding event, we'll help the WILD birds and beneficial insects that call Zoo New England home.
Zoo New England is located on a 72-acre campus in Boston's Franklin Park. We will remove invasive plants that are negatively impacting biodiversity on zoo grounds, and ultimately harming the WILD creatures that call the zoo home, including migratory
song birds, at-risk bumblebees and Monarchs and other butterflies.
Rain or shine, we'll meet at 8:30 am and spend 2 hours hand pulling or digging non-native invasive plants such as
Garlic Mustard and Black Swallow Wort.
After weeding, all volunteers will be free to enjoy the zoo for the rest of the day!
